Manel is the Head of the Electrical Engineering Research Area (EERA) at the Catalonia Energy Research Institute (IREC). With more than 20 years' experience leading and participating in international and national R&D projects in the field of energy systems and international scientific facilities, he is presently focusing his research in energy efficiency systems, buildings and communities. In particular, he is presently working on low energy districts, smart grids and renewables and electric mobility integration. He is part of the Smart Cities Joint Programme of the European Energy Research Alliance and co-Operating Agent of the V2X Task 28 of the Hybrid and Electrical Vehicle Technology Program of the IEA. He is also leading the RIS3CAT Energy Community, a 15 MiEuro Action Plan to develop and improve the competitiveness of the energy sector in Catalonia.
Manel has contributed to the Catalonia Electric Mobility White Book, the Barcelona Energy and Air Quality Plan, Catalonia Energy Guides, the Data Collection and Reporting Guidelines for European electro-mobility by JRC and several scientific publications in energy efficiency, electric mobility and smart grids.

Ramon is Head of Smart Grid systems with more than 20 years of experience in the analysis of electrical network flows, developing several telecommunication and smart automation systems over primary and secondary substations. He has also worked on developing distributed integrated control systems for smart grid applications.
P2P Smart Test Project
The P2P-SmartTest project investigates and demonstrates a smarter electricity distribution system integrated with advanced ICT, regional markets and innovative business models. It will employ Peer-to-Peer (P2P) approaches to ensure the integration of demand side flexibility and the optimum operation of DER and other resources within the network while maintaining second-to-second power balance and the quality and security of the supply.
A simulated grid was built and connected to real (Centro Tecnológico Walqa and Atenea) and simulated microgrids that participated in different scenarios to verify the ability of an aggregation of microgrids to perform energy exchanges under the premises of a collaborative algorithm that will look for the best trading solution possible. The solution will look for a balanced solution with the most reduced cost based upon the energy cost curves provided by the involved microgrids.
Senior Researcher, Renewable Energies Grid Integration Department

Cecilio Sarobe is a Senior Researcher in the Renewable Energies Grid Integration Departament at CENER. He received his degree in Industrial Electrical Engineering (BsC+MsC) at the Universidad Pública de Navarra (UPNA). He has extensive experience in the field of renewable energies, first in the engineering department of Gamesa and afterwards in CENER. He joined the wind power department in 2003, participating initially in field testing of WTG (power curve, mechanical loads, and power quality), but expanding his activities to commissioning and testing at the drive train and generator-converter test facilities in Sangüesa (Navarra, Spain). He then moved to the experimental wind farm in Alaiz for commissioning and O&M activities before starting his participation in projects related to storage, microgrids and smart grids.

Jose holds a PhD in electrical engineering (cum laude) from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and has significant experience in wind turbine modelling with DIGSILENT PowerFactory and MATLAB/Simulink, specially full
power converter wind turbines. He also has experience in power system stabiliser capability for wind turbines.
